One of the fastest growing municipalities north of Pittsburgh, Ohio Township is still a mix of old farmsteads and newer housing developments. While its municipal building is still surrounded on two sides by cow pastures, this small community has been the site of much development growth in the past two decades. The local subdivisions of Sewickley Crossing, Cobblestone, Overlook Estates, Blackburn Heights, Sewickley Ridge (55+) and Summerseat (55+) are new additions and offer buyers the option of newer builds with a small town feel.
Ohio Township is home to the Avonworth School buildings with the Primary Center and the Elementary sharing one campus on Roosevelt Road and the Middle School and High School sharing a separate campus on Joseph's Lane. Avonworth is known for its innovative learning and as a 1:1 school district, its focus on technology. The district serves Ohio Township, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Emsworth, and Kilbuck. Niche.com rates it an A- school district and fun fact: the mascot is an Antelope!
Ohio Township features some excellent shopping options with Giant Eagle, Home Depot, Sam's Club, Target, and Anthropologie Outlet within minutes and a nice selection of casual and sophisticated dining options with Goodfellas, Pizza Roma, Willow, and Andora right around the corner.
The local Ohio Township Nature Center hosts family movie nights, toddler storytime, an Easter egg hunt & a Halloween haunted house. Visit the park to walk the wooded trails and the quarter mile track, to catch a soccer game on its inner field, or to use the new playground equipment. It's a gem of a park with something for everyone!
